Grand Opening of Luxe Life Hotel New York

Luxe Hotels has inaugurated its first branded establishment in New York City, unveiling the Luxe Life Hotel New York on Tuesday, February 4th, in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood. This historic 98-room boutique hotel is housed in the former headquarters of LIFE Magazine.
“We are thrilled to introduce Luxe Hotels’ casual luxury to guests in New York,” stated Luxe Hotels Chairman and CEO Efrem Harkham. “Travelers will experience outstanding service, value, and comfort at Luxe Life, along with the chance to stay in a landmark building with a rich history.”
John Ames Mitchell, the founder and former editor of the renowned LIFE Magazine, relocated his company’s operations to 19 West 31st Street when the building was completed in 1895. The magazine’s celebrated artists, writers, and creative staff, including Charles Dana Gibson, Norman Rockwell, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Margaret Bourke-White, and Robert Capa, lived in the apartments above their shared offices. This setup was the first “co-working” space of its time. Today, the creative spirit of the LIFE team endures throughout the neighborhood and the hotel.
The hotel’s culinary offerings are spearheaded by chefs Scott Hawley and Michael Gutowski, two seasoned New York City restaurateurs. The hotel’s signature restaurant, The Marilyn, named after Hawley’s grandmother, is set to become a destination in its own right, featuring house-made pasta and seasonal dishes.
Reviving the rumored Prohibition-era speakeasy bar for LIFE Magazine staffers, the hotel plans to open this hidden gem in its basement this summer. This speakeasy will elevate NoMad’s nightlife scene, offering an exceptional cocktail program alongside a selection of fine beers and wines.
This grand opening signifies significant growth for the Luxe Hotels brand. Less than a year ago, the Rose Garden Palace Hotel in Rome was rebranded to Luxe Rose Garden Roma, becoming the first European hotel to bear the Luxe name. Additionally, the flagship Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel in Beverly Hills is set to complete a renovation exceeding $4 million this spring. Other properties under the Luxe brand include the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles and the Luxe City Center Hotel in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
Room rates at Luxe Life New York begin at $199 per night. For more information and to book a stay, visit the Luxe Hotels website.
