Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti Tanzania

Four Seasons Hotels has introduced a fresh outdoor adventure experience in Sub-Saharan Africa. The company has finalized a strategic management agreement with the owners of Bilila Lodge in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. This property will undergo an upgrade to meet international standards and will be rebranded as Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti Tanzania by the fall of 2012.
Kathleen Taylor, President and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, stated, “We have long aspired to expand into Sub-Saharan Africa and offer our guests new outdoor adventure experiences. Now we are thrilled to have an outstanding location and partners who share our vision to create a world-class lodge in Africa’s prime safari region.”
The property will be managed by James Kostecky, a seasoned Four Seasons professional, who previously held the position of General Manager at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle in Thailand. He also has experience working in Kenya with a Nairobi-based hotel group. Kostecky, an avid photographer with a strong sense of adventure, expressed his enthusiasm, “It’s wonderful to return to Africa where every day brings a new wonder. This lodge will provide an excellent opportunity for first-time safari travelers, families, and groups to experience the Serengeti’s natural beauty, incredible wildlife, and rich culture.”
This initiative represents a significant opportunity for Four Seasons to elevate its brand and reputation. The Serengeti safari lodge, located in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a rare opportunity for major hotel chains to expand into protected areas. The property comprises 60 rooms, 12 suites, and five villas, all offering views of the Serengeti.
The expansion into Sub-Saharan Africa aligns with Four Seasons’ goal to offer unparalleled adventure experiences in one of the world’s most renowned safari destinations. The rebranded lodge aims to provide guests with a luxurious base from which to explore the Serengeti’s vast landscapes and diverse wildlife. This venture is not only a strategic business move but also a chance to bring the Four Seasons’ signature luxury and service to a new and unique setting, offering guests unforgettable safari experiences in the heart of one of Africa’s most treasured regions.
